Main Article Content
Abstract
Cyberbullying has been widely present in social networks and websites. This paper addresses self-cyberbullying behaviours in their various expressions. Self-cyberbullying consists of a
self-destructive conduct in which individuals use digital technologies to anonymously promote psychological self-embarrassment, ultimately aiming to draw the attention of other adults or peers. Having cyberbullying and self-harm as a referential, this article identifies the characteristics of selfcyberbullying. Results of a relevant international study on self-cyberbullying are discussed underlining the importance of detailed knowledge on this phenomenon in order to prevent its emergence among Portuguese teenagers.
