For a non-normalizing listening in the socio-educational measure
Main Article Content
Abstract
This article is driven by the experiences of the authors in institutional supervision, a modality
of team building carried out with Social Assistance Policy workers who assist teenagers who are distant
from their families, living temporarily in institutional services, or who comply with socio-educational
measures for committing an infraction act. The social imaginary of the places of destination to adolescents from underprivileged social strata has reproduced the figure of the “deviant” and hegemonic
conceptions about the ways of working with them: processes based on goals to be accomplished that
disregard their uniqueness and life trajectory. The other, taken within the logic of medicalization and
normalization of existence as the holder of problems to be solved by a specialist submitted to the
achievement of goals, has been the subject of institutional supervision work, especially with professionals
involved with socio-educational measures. These experiences have triggered the issue explored in
the article: the relationship between this rationality and the historical elements of socio-educational
measures in Brazil and the processes of the services executing this politics in the city of São Paulo.
The work of institutional supervision, propeller of these theoretical questions, is a strategy that aims
to create cracks in such logic.
