Digital skills of teachers at higher education institutions in Cape Verde Adaptation of a self-reflection tool
Main Article Content
Abstract
The understanding that in this digital era, being a “Leader”/“Pioneer” in digital proficiency makes a difference in the professional performance of teachers, especially those who work in Higher Education Institutions, dictated the adaptation of the Check-In tool in Cape Verde. The main purpose of this study was to adapt the Check-In and analyse the digital proficiency of teachers, aiming to contribute to the optimisation of strengths and the reduction of weaknesses. The results confirm the internal consistency of the Check-In and show that the digital competence of most teachers oscillates between Newcomer and Expert, as well as ensure the absence of significant differences in digital proficiency concerning gender, age, type of contract, and years of service. The conclusions suggest the urgency of strengthening teachers’ digital skills and prioritising the use of digital technologies.
