Evandro, inattentive boy? malaise and medicalization in schooling

Abstract
This article is the result of an intervention research based on a case study. It carries out a
posteriori analysis of the material referring to the school discourse about a child undergoing schooling,
aiming to understand the production of malaise. Based on reports of visits to the school, school reports
and transcripts of speeches by school agents, it reflects on the malaise in the educators’ discourse
towards the student who does not correspond to the ideal, as well as maps the strategies to overcome
the malaise. The article concludes that, in the case studied, the strategies predominantly pointed to
what can be called the medicalization of education in the contemporary.
