ESC journal typically publishes two calls for special issues per year. Proposals should be emailed to the Editor-in-chief by 31 December 2024 to be published from 2025 onwards.

The journal accepts submissions in Portuguese, English, French, and Spanish, and does not place limitations on conceptual and methodological perspectives.

The ESC journal has been rated A2 in the new Qualis Periódicos under the 2017-2020 Quadrennial Evaluation. A2 is the second highest rating.
