Learning Outside the Classroom: Experiential Learning Pathways

Abstract
This article presents a summary of research aimed primarily at understanding the learning process of unschooled adults living in rural areas. It identifies their knowledge, the process by which they acquired knowledge and skills, their literacy skills, the strategies they employed to overcome difficulties and challenges, the people and contexts associated with their learning process, and their perceptions of literacy courses and the world around them. The learning process of unschooled adults stems solely from informal education and experiential learning; consequently, the article addresses key elements of these theoretical domains.
