Abstract

This issue of Educação, Sociedade & Culturas [Education, Society & Cultures] brings together six articles spanning Portugal, both mainland and Madeira, through to Brazil, and including Angola and Cape Verde. This is a fact worth highlighting, since this geographical breadth, together with the thematic and theoretical-methodological diversity of the texts, reflects what the journal has sought to be since its foundation. More than that, the territories brought together here are not just any five places; they are distinct configurations of a shared historical space, shaped by a coloniality that has not disappeared and by political trajectories which, while sharing certain origins, have been asymmetrical in both their processes and outcomes. It is this constellation that lends coherence and unity to this issue of Educação, Sociedade & Culturas.
