School Social Inequalities and Democracy: Social Classes and Education inPierre Bourdieu
Main Article Content
Abstract
This paper is a presentation of Pierre Bourdieu's social space theory. It emphasizes the crucial role of education systems and of cultural capital in the reproduction of social inequalities in the advanced capitalist societies. It is also argued that a critical but constructive reading of the main assumptions of this theory allows to think and construct a more egalitarian and democratic common world.
