Abstract

This article aims to analyse the impact of contemporary multimedia on the formation of readers and writers, and investigates the source of academic subjects in the light of historical and cultural studies, and in the format of a theoretical-practical research. The main focus of this analysis is the relationship between program content and the structure of the predominant teaching processes in Brazilian schools. It also observes the trans-disciplinary challenges of expanding the dialogue between curriculum theories, applied linguistics, the mind, and communication technologies. The results indicate that the teaching methods used in the schools have their origin in scientistic and enlightenment ideas of the Modern Age. By contrast, it seems that the development of communication technologies have paved the way for new texts to be produced – in different languages and formats – truly legitimate and attuned to daily life. The applied use of such concepts results in the construction of theoretical and practical bases for curriculum revision, which is necessary for inclusive education.
