Abstract

Drawing, for me, is a conceptual tool of self-awareness, an expanded field where thought, observation, and criticism intertwine. Since drawing, by definition, is linked to writing, and writing to description. The following topic description of the drawings is presented as a mental image — a project — translated into a manifesto of affective citizenship. As a political act, it emphasizes love and care as central forces in the relationship between beings and the Earth, in its universal and planetary dimension. Thus, the 13 colors of this palette were chosen from my research on color and reflect my experiences and memories in response to sensory and emotional stimuli. The flowers I carefully selected for this composition are based on Georgia O’Keeffe’s paintings, wanting, with this choice, to create a deeper connection and, simultaneously, to honor her. The flower symbolizes beauty, perfection, love, glory, joy, surrender to the divine, spiritual evolution, and soul, being a feminine symbol linked to the element of water, the Moon, creation, fertility, and birth. Flowers are part of angiosperms, an evolutionarily successful group of plants with more than 250,000 species. They make up the majority of the existing terrestrial flora and have been dominant since the late Cretaceous period. The leaves, from different tree species, are stylized, cut out in zinc, and painted in nine shades of green, recreating chlorophyll, the essential pigment for photosynthesis. These leaves and flowers combine to sustain ecosystems in an environmental balance, just as this tribute and these colors celebrate my self-awareness as an artist, committed to creating a more just world, where drawing and art expand consciousness and inspire transformation.
