Abstract

This article summarizes the results of a survey of school teachers that took their students to the exhibition «Darwin’s Evolution» (Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, 2009). It analyses issues
such as the motivations for holding a school visit, the assessment of learning outcomes by students,
the impact of guided tours and support materials. These results show the importance of bring into
line exhibition contents with school curricula, the role played by guided tours in deepening the
knowledge already held by students and the relevance of sending educational packs beforehand to help in the preparation of visits, post-visit discussions and other educational activities.
